Here’s a look at the post in its entirety.
“Starting on August 21 at 12:01 a.m. PDT, you can get an early start on your MyCAREER while testing out the new MyPLAYER builder and hitting the court two weeks ahead of the game’s launch by downloading the NBA 2K20 Demo. In the NBA 2K20 Demo, you can try out multiple MyPLAYER configurations to create the player that best fits your play-style, which will be carried over to NBA 2K20 at launch on September 6. The NBA 2K20 Demo will be available exclusively on Xbox One, PS4 and Nintendo Switch.”
While the source doesn’t reveal much, there are a few key details worth taking away from it. For one, the name NBA 2K20 Demo ditches the Prelude moniker that has classified NBA 2K trials for the past few years. That being said, it’s unclear what this title change means. The Prelude namesake was somewhat confusing for those not previously involved with the series, so it’s possible this recent shift toward simplicity may be designed to better guide new players toward the content. It’s also possible that 2K20’s MyCAREER suite doesn’t feature a Prelude as fans know it, signaling a potential shakeup to the established formula.
In that vein, the post does hint at a couple improvements to existing systems. Mentions of a “new MyPLAYER builder” are certainly interesting, especially if it comes bundled with less reliance on pay-to-win stat increases. Also new is the ability to test multiple MyPLAYER configurations at once. In previous iterations of the Prelude it was an annoying process to build secondary ballers, so it’s nice to see that problem has been addressed. Last but not least, NBA 2K20 Demo is the first of its kind to appear on Nintendo Switch as well. We’ll likely learn more about the specifics of the demo in the weeks ahead, but there’s just enough detail in this first release to generate excitement amongst fans.
NBA 2K20 comes to Xbox One, PS4, Switch and PC September 6.
