How the NCIS: New Orleans cast reacted to the show being canceled

In a statement, the Dwayne Pride actor and TV icon said: “Sad to end our love affair with this phenomenal city but so grateful for all the friends we made along the way […] I will miss the music. Big thank you to CBS for seven years.”

Speaking on the cancelation in a TV Insider interview, he added: “This being the last season, going out in the middle of a pandemic, I didn’t think it was going to happen. I’m surprised the show was canceled.”

The Sebastian Lund star has payed tribute to the crew and shared some memories from his time on the show on his Twitter account.

Replying to a writer on the show who called his character “memorable,” Kerkovich tweeted: “Only because you guys gave me such fun stuff to say. Now please go ahead and create the private detective spin-off entitled ‘Gregorio & Lund’. I’ll be waiting.”

On March 23, after he had filmed his last scenes in the NCIS NOLA lab, he tweeted: “Today was a series wrap on the Lab Set. I spat out a lot of scientific gibberish here, and for my first two seasons, I was probably in here 90% of the time. My first memories of the show formed in this spot… RIP.”

Though the Loretta Wade actor is saying goodbye to NCIS: New Orleans, she is not saying goodbye to the city itself, where she moved during filming of the show after falling in love with the Big Easy. She told the hosts of The Real, “[when] I started NCIS I had a very ill husband […] and I said, ‘honey we need to make some major money so that you can extend your life a little bit. And that’s what NCIS did for me. It’s a huge gift that I got from from NCIS.

“I’m going to stay in New Orleans. I bought a house here [then] my husband passed and I was like, ‘why go home to LA to an empty house?’”

The Patton Plame actor had some words of comfort for fans of the show. Replying to one who said they were sad NCIS NOLA was ending on Twitter, he wrote: “I know my friend.”

On Instagram, he recently posted a picture of a pair of NCIS: New Orleans socks, captioning the image: “this all they gave my for 7 seasons, a pair of socks…just kidding.”

Saying goodbye to the show on his last day, the actor wrote on Instagram: “This was my home for 7 years my heart is so heavy . So hard when this is over, I will always love my cast, and crew.”

The Hannah Khoury star also took to Instagram to say goodbye to the show. “Grateful for the work, and for this opportunity,” she wrote. “Grateful for this team and the company that has kept me a little less lonely in this time away from everyone I love. Wishing u all health.” On her final day of shooting she wrote: “Shooting the final episode #NCISNOLA, thx for watching, fans and friends.”

The NCIS: New Orleans series finale airs Sunday, May 23 at 10 p.m. ET / 9 p.m. CT on CBS. All episodes so far are streaming on Paramount+.
