The star of this major New World update is the game’s newest zone, Brimstone Sands. Over two and a half times the size of Everfall, Brimstone Sands is one of the largest areas in Aeternum, full of new enemies, capturable territory, and plenty of new story content to discover. The ancient Egyptians once encountered the Ancients in Brimstone Sands and built vast monuments and cities thousands of years ago, leaving behind mysterious ruins to uncover. The Brimstone Sands is now inhabited by the Roman Empire’s corrupted 19th Legion, who are assaulting the pyramid Akhet in their quest for redemption and a renewed Roman Empire.
Additionally, New World has added greatswords to its arsenal of weapons for players to use. The greatsword uses both offensive and defensive stances according to the situation, allowing players to adapt to the flow of combat. The Onslaught skill tree for the greatsword is geared toward extreme aggression and dropping foes before they pose a threat. The Defiance skill tree, meanwhile, is focused on defensive tactics and survivability while specializing in damaging multiple enemies. Along with the new weapon are Heartgem Abilities, which function as “ultimate” abilities that charge up during combat.
New World has also completely redesigned the early game experience for new players, with improved quest flow, new quest mechanics, a streamlined story, and many improvements to the Monarch’s Bluffs and Everfall areas. New World will also be joining other online games with Halloween events thanks to its Nightveil Hallow event which runs from October 18 until November 1. Level 35 characters and up can collect unique Nightveil Hallow rewards by aiding Salvatore the Mad against the demon Baalphazu and his horde of Pumpkinites.
New World is available on PC.
